Inside Sales Representative


Position Title: Sales Representative 

Work location:  All locations

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting new customers
  • Welcome and identify customer needs
  • Selling existing and new accounts via phone
  • Enter and process customer orders
  • Scheduling visitations to clients
  • Entertaining prospects and customers
  • Develop creative means to break accounts
  • Monitor inventory to ensure product is in stock
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints
  • Meet or exceed sales goals
  • Large call volume required

Reports Directly to: Branch Manager

Reports Indirectly to: COO, President

Direct Reports:  None

Education Level Required:  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred

Position Requirements:

  • Proven track record of cold calling a plus
  • Sales skills & experience a plus
  • Exceptional time management
  • Excellent phone presentation skills required
  • Good computer and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Must be able to learn and get up to speed quickly
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving market
  • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated individual
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage numerous tasks
  • Strong mathematical ability
  • Ability to resolve customer concerns in an expeditious and tactful manner
  • Previous steel sales experience helpful

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Ability to tactfully deal with customers, internal Sales Representatives, coworkers & vendors as necessary.   Previous experience in Sales, Customer Service or other related field helpful.  Ability to build rapport with customers.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong negotiation skills.

Physical Demands:  Position is in an office setting and requires sitting 90% of the work day.  Typing on a keyboard and using a mouse at least 80% of the work day.  Ability to read a computer screen a minimum of 80% of the work day.  Position requires intermittent travel and ability to travel for customer visitations.

Special Requirements:  Knowledge of steel industry and products or Stelplan system helpful.

Tools and Equipment Used:  Position requires using a personal computer, cell phone, shredder, keyboard, mouse, calculator, fax, telephone, copier & scanner.
