Export Compliance

Export ComplianceIt is the policy of Chapel Steel to adhere to applicable export control laws. Chapel Steel’s export products are largely classified as EAR99. This is determined by the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) dictated by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). EAR99 classified items consist of low-level technology and consumer goods. We are also capable of supplying ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) classified materials as well as goods that require ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) identification.

As a company participating in international activities, Chapel Steel is uncompromising in the requirement of strict compliance with all applicable export laws and regulations. The executive management of Chapel Steel is committed to establishing, and maintaining a strong export compliance program. This has been accomplished through the implementation of a corporate export compliance policy, designating an Export Compliance Manager (ECM), regularly scheduled auditing and training, compliance with Chapel Steel’s Code of Conduct, and other compliance tools.

Social and Environmental Responsibility

Social and Environmental ResponsibilityChapel Steel takes the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and their families very seriously. We believe that investing in our employees and the communities in which we serve is critical to our success.

Chapel Steel is a metals service center that does not produce or mill the steel products it sells and fabricates. Our company is committed to mitigating the impact that our products and operations may have on the environment and we are proud to partner with steel producers that share these views. Chapel Steel sources a vast majority of products from mills that are actively implementing initiatives that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, maximize recycling, and invest in renewable energy. It is also imperative that our sources responsibly source the scrap, iron ore and coal that are critical to the production of steel. Our primary suppliers classify their sources based on risk indices for human rights, political and environmental risks to ensure that all their suppliers comply with international guidelines.
